Giovanna Velardi is artistic director of the Company Giovanna Velardi and president of FC@PIN.D'OC, an association financed by Mibact and Regione Sicily, that supports the her choreographic work as well as Giuseppe Muscarello’s, Paola Bianchi, Fabio Ciccalè, Stellario Di Blasi and Simona Miraglia. With her art direction, Giovanna Velardi develops projects related to dance in Italy and in Europe and beyond the choreographic creation, she realizes projects dedicated to the diffusion and promotion of dance and works as dance teacher. /p>
Giovanna Velardi during her activities in Italy and abroad has received the support of the Ministry of Heritage and cultural activities and tourism, the region Sicillia, the Paca Region, Ville de Marseille, Department 13 des Bouches du Rhone, Ballet National de Marseille, Marseille Objectif Danse, National choreographic Centre of Orleans (CCNO Josef Nadj), Point Ephemere (Paris), Stage Dance Center in Palermo, Rialto Sant'Ambrogio (Rome), Chapel Orsini (Rome), Officine Ouragan Palermo, the Italian culture Institute in Marseille, Centre Culturel Français in Palermo, Centre Culturel Français in Rome, Lazio Core, Duncan 3.0, the Turin platform, Center dance Theatre in Palermo, New Montevergini in Palermo, Armunia Castiglioncello Festival, KLAP Marseille.
Giovanna studies in Italy and France, and has worked with some of the choreographers of the French Nouvelle Danse as Genevieve Sorin. France develops her tendency to work on improvisation and she founded her own company in Marseilles collaborating with musicians and composers. Among her creations and interpretations: Puppet, -ENORMOUS ROOM Ophelia (Hamlet Machine), The three studies, Versus, Short circuit, Pupidda, Clown, Alice's Room, Live Vucciria and I Picciotti, Straw man (European project built between Prague and Marseille Palermo) Carmen, Core / Demeter 2.0, Look me. In 2011 she is the choreographer of "Carmen" in Vincenzo Pirrotta’s direction for the Teatro Bellini in Catania and in 2012 and 2013 she is the choreographer of Coppelia and Cinderella at the Palermo Symphony Orchestra. In 2014 she creates the choreography for IL MACELLO DI GIOBBE of Fausto Paravidino and for the musical conservatory Bellini in Palermo "Histoire du Soldat" by Stravinsky. In the same year she proposed a reduction of Carmen for two interpreter , the Carmen Duo project with the actor Filippo Luna. In 2015 her creation Look me already is at the Venice Biennial, and she creates the choreography for the show La Lupa directed by Guglielmo Ferro with Lina Sastri and creates choreography PETER AND THE WOLF, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana production. Also in 2015, the Company Giovanna Velardi is Associate Artist to Scenario Pubblico, Catania international choreographic center directed by Roberto Zappalà for the 2015/2017 triennium.
Giovanna was a member of the CID (International Dance Council) of UNESCO, she founded the National Table of Coordination and networks of Contemporary Dance and she was Chairman of CORE (Coordination Regionale Lazio of Contemporary Dance and Performing Arts).
As a teacher, Giovanna held contemporary dance workshops for the grand Southern University project in France (Bastia, Nice, Valence, Avignon, Aix en Provence), the Friche Marseille, the National Choreographic Center of Orleans, in Castiglioncello ( Armunia) in Isola del Liri, at the IALS of Rome. And she is contemporary dance teacher at Modem / company Zappala Dance (further training school for dancers) in Catania, directed by Roberto Zappala. She edited as a partner and held lectures for the project "Urban Movements" in Palermo, supported by the Ministry of youth policy and is taking the degree at the two-year specialization for teaching at the National Academy of Dance in Rome.
